What did we do?
We helped combine two classes -- the Law and Entrepreneurship course and the Introduction to Business SISE course -- to create a business proposal - WavePool. The next step? Launch the business in Fall 2015, with the help of the next round of classes.
We provided over 70 companies with basic trademark information.
We worked with individual projects both at the university and outside of the university.
We held two panels, "Pulse of Entrepreneurship in New Orleans" and "Sciences and Innovation in New Orleans."
We had many 1834 Club lunches with people who hadn't met each other.
We participated in educational informational sessions with Changemaker Institute.
We tweeted the Law and Entreprenuership course.
We started the Innovator's Almanac, which is in draft form. We've drafted 60 separate articles about law and entrepreneurship. Those should be posted this Fall 2015.
We kept thinking about the lean canvas in an academic setting. We are working on teaching materials that we are hoping to turn into a casebook.
And our favorite part -- the matchmaking. We introduced 52 Businesses to Changemaker, and we connected many people who needed a resource with those that might be able to assist. We want to be an a anchor in a community that is often in their own silos. We are helping remove those barriers.
We are working with students, faculty, community, and staff all of the time.
And our small success -- our first project -- Parasite (where we paired a law student and a law firm with a local project) is now legit, with the Mayor at their opening. We are thrilled with our small part in helping make this happen.
So, what's up for next year? Wait and see!
