Pilot Class Project: SISE Introduction to Business for Social Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship Conducts Community Case Studies
Dr. Ron Gard's Introduction to Business for Social Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship not only studied the basics of business creations, looking at the Lean Start Up model in particular, that is such the rage at the moment. But they rolled up their sleeves and dug into the business structures and struggles of over 20 businesses, social ventures, and non-profits. Each student produced a case study, which was presented to the groups so that they could further use the work of the students in their own business plans, press kits, and other textual situations.
As one of our test projects, we paired two 3L Tulane law students, Lauren Peralto and Morgan Embelton, with one of our favor start-ups, Where Y'Art, to help with work leading up to the launch of their new website for curated local art. Lauren and Morgan worked with attorneys to assist in creating a Best Practices and Fair Use Best Practices for the site. We were able to add value to the pro bono hours provided by Propeller. We were very happy with the result.
